Sushizanmai Honten, Japan’s first sushi restaurant open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, opened in the Tsukiji Fish Market district. Expanded mainly in Tokyo. |

Opened the first conveyor-belt sushi restaurant “Mawaru Sushi-Zammai Tsukiji”. |
2006 |
Annual sales reached 10 billion yen within five years of launch. Became the number one sushi chain in Japan. Opened “Kiyomura Juku”, a sushi chef training school. |
2010 |
Opened the first regional store “Sushizanmai Tenjin” in Fukuoka. Expanded to major cities including Hokkaido, Osaka, Kyushu, Nagoya, Kyoto, Sendai, and Hiroshima. |
2013 January |
Won a bid of 155.4 million yen for a 222.0 kg bluefin tuna at Tsukiji Market’s first auction. Recognized as a Guinness World Record in 2017. |
2019 January |
At the first Toyosu Market auction, won a 278.0 kg bluefin tuna for 333.6 million yen — a record-high price that still stands. |
2025 |
Opened over 60 stores to date. Currently operating 48 stores: 37 in Kanto, 5 in Kyushu, 2 in Kansai, and 1 each in Hokkaido, Aichi (Nagoya), Miyagi (Sendai), and Hiroshima. |
