Mino Osechi (みの御節)

Mino Osechi is the heart of Japanese New Year traditions, a beautifully curated box of seasonal delicacies where each ingredient carries a wish for the coming year. From shrimp representing longevity to sweet chestnuts for wealth, this colorful assortment is more than just a meal;
it is a “stacked” prayer for continuous happiness. At Sushi Zanmai, we bring this authentic experience to your table, allowing you to taste the deep history and symbolism of a true Japanese celebration.

Oshiruko (お汁粉)

Oshiruko is a warm, comforting dessert soup that has been a beloved winter staple in Japan for centuries. Made from sweet azuki red beans and served with soft, chewy mochi (rice cakes), it provides a perfect balance of sweetness and warmth during the cold New Year season. Sharing a bowl of Oshiruko is a traditional way to enjoy a moment of peace and sweetness with loved ones, symbolizing a harmonious start to the year.

Zoni (雑煮)

Zoni is the quintessential Japanese New Year dish, a savory rice cake soup that embodies the spirit of the holiday. While recipes vary by region, this “lucky” soup always features mochi in a rich, aromatic dashi broth, serving as a sacred offering to welcome the New Year gods. Enjoying our Zoni ($8) is the most authentic way to participate in the “Hatsuhinode” (first sunrise) festivities, bringing you health and strength for the 365 days ahead.
